For those who know me, know absolutely well that I hate and I mean with capital H-A-T-E Hindi movies for a simple reason – they are all the same.
The singing, the dancing, the pageantry but without a story, without substance and without anything worthwhile. You have a typical Indian good looking hero, a beautiful Indian good looking female, a bad villain and that is what the story is all about with over the top drama, emotions, fight scenes and every possible silly, stupid & senseless plotholes which make me squirm in my seats.
In fact, I prefer doing nothing than watching an Indian movie.
It is that much that I hate Indian movies.
But once a while a movie comes along that piques your interest, totally changes your perspective and surprises you beyond belief.
Dil Chahta Hai (2001)
3 Idiots (2009)
The Lunchbox (2013)
Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013)
Dangal (2016)
Are some of the movies I absolutely love and have watched multiple times.
And to my surprise, now this movie is my top favourite featuring of Abhishek Bachchan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Suresh Saraf, Pearle Maaney and Inayat Varma. And directed by Anurag Basu.
I can tell you something – I have never in my life felt so glued to any movie as much as I was glued to Ludo. I literally wanted to stop my work just to watch the movie – it was that tempting.
The editing – world-class
The acting – simply superb
The characterization – brilliant
The cinematography – breathtaking
The story – a masterclass in film making
I can tell you something, the movie is so good – I seriously wish someone would give this movie an oscar.
Seriously.
It is that good.
Oh… one last thing before I do end….
I have always hated Abhishek Bachchan and felt he was one of the WORST actors to ever exist in the Indian Cinema. But after watching him play the role that he did…. I have a new found respect for him.
He took my heart with his performance.
And now he is an actor I look forward to watching in the future…hopefully, if he gets a decent role.
Trust me – do yourself a favor… and watch this movie.
Please.
Overall Rating – 10/10
I loved it so much… I will make it a point to watch it again.
