Tribe Of Mentors by Timothy Ferriss: INTRODUCTION
As soon as Timothy Ferriss announced “Tribe of Mentors” was going to be released – I pre-ordered the book and waited for it to come. Normal delivery took around a month (USA to Thailand), but I was prepared to wait.
However, during the course of one month, there were plenty of reviews – good, bad and ugly. To my surprise this book by Tim Ferriss received more average and bad reviews than good reviews. So I was skeptical. And then given how many promotional videos and interviews Tim Ferriss was giving outside every single day through various media outlets – I wasn’t too convinced that this book would be good.
However, after receiving the book and spending 2 & ½ days reading it (while trying to balance the other areas of my life), I finally finished the book.
However, I decided not to write a book review immediately. I wanted the information to sink in. So here is me giving you the book review of Tribe of Mentors after nearly a week of reading the book.

Tribe Of Mentors by Timothy Ferriss:THE 11 QUESTIONS
- What is the book (or books) you’ve given most as a gift, and why? Or what are one to three books that have greatly influenced your life?
- What purchase of $100 or less has most positively impacted your life in the last six months (or in recent memory)? My readers love specifics like brand and model, where you found it, etc.
- How has a failure, or apparent failure, set you up for later success?Do you have a “favorite failure” of yours?
- If you could have a gigantic billboard anywhere with anything on it—metaphorically speaking, getting a message out to millions or billions—what would it say and why? It could be a few words or a paragraph. (If helpful, it can be someone else’s quote: Are there any quotes you think of often or live your life by?)
- What is one of the best or most worthwhile investments you’ve ever made? (Could be an investment of money, time, energy, etc.)
- What is an unusual habit or an absurd thing that you love?
- In the last five years, what new belief, behavior, or habit has most improved your life?
- What advice would you give to a smart, driven college student about to enter the “real world”? What advice should they ignore?
- What are bad recommendations you hear in your profession or area of expertise?
- In the last five years, what have you become better at saying no to (distractions, invitations, etc.)? What new realizations and/or approaches helped? Any other tips?
- When you feel overwhelmed or unfocused, or have lost your focus temporarily, what do you do? (If helpful: What questions do you ask yourself?)
Now some of them answered all 11, some choose to answer 2 or 3. Some of them answered in long drawn out details. And some of them answered short-to-the point answers.

Tribe Of Mentors by Timothy Ferriss:COMMON PIECES OF NUGGETS BY THE MAJORITY TIMOTHY FERRISS INTERVIEWED
Now here are a few bits I picked up from this book – which I felt were of value to me. Some of them which were very common to all the interviewees – I specifically marked them and I have put it across under the category ‘common’.
- Most of them practiced some form of meditation throughout the day especially in the morning or when they were stressed out.
- All of them had a reading habit. And the majority endorsed Viktor Frankl’s book “Man’s Search for Meaning” and “The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand”
- Almost all of them practiced the art of saying NO and found it very necessary to say no (especially given the number of requests they get per day)
- Most of them did suggest following your passion. However, the one common underlining theme was – follow your dreams and your passion but go for it AFTER working for someone, learning the ways of the world and discovering more truths about yourself and the world around you
- Physical Exercise in some form was practiced by most.
- The name of Charlie Munger was stated multiple times in the book
